Classic Country Music Lyrics
Tell me your opinion on rock music today?
My opinion is is that its gone to hell. i think all the genres have. When you look back at the 80s and 70s, rock was more meaningful in the lyrics. our music today is like, how do you expect these songs to be classics. the song sweet child o' mine for instants, everyone's heard it and its a classic, along with welcome to the jungle. my parents and i watched american idol last night and they saw KISS and they were like "now thats real rock music". Mind you that since they don't like our rock music, they listen to country (ewww)
I feel that because music's focus has switched focus from actually being talented to making money, rock especially has gone downhill. However, there is still some (but few) left with talent. Many bands lately have been successful because of their generic sound although they have bad songwriting abilities and aren't that great on their instruments. It is too easy to be successful today, that may be music's biggest issue. I am sure that many bands that are huge today wouldn't have had a chance for a record label if they attempted to create music in the 60's, 70's, 80's and even 90's. Also, because of society's tastes today, bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd probably wouldn't have the success they have if they'd have come out today, because today music's focus is too much on sounding good and making money rather than making talented music. I can testify to the fact that most of my favorite albums of all time are things I disliked at first but I knew they were well written so I listened more, giving them a chance and now I love them. Society doesn't take time to truly evaluate things anymore and that also contributes to why rock is weak today. They think "it's catchy, I'll buy the record" not "it's catchy but there is no depth or talent, it's not worth it". Rock has hope left but not much.

Classic Country Music Lyrics
Which classic country music artist wrote these lyrics?
...Which artist and what is the title of the song?
....I'd have all the treasures my pockets would hold
I'd be oh so wealthy with treasures untold....
If Teardrops Were Pennies. It was written by the great Carl Butler.
Hit versions were by Carl Smith and Porter & Dolly in country, and (believe it or not) Rosemary Clooney in pop.
