Electric Guitars for Beginners?

Hi. I am 16 years old and I want to start playing the guitar. I have a few questions. First off, the guitar I want to buy should be $200 or less and electric. I don't want anything too expensive because of the risk of me not playing the guitar as much as I hope to. I'd hope that this guitar would come with an Amp and picks. I'm not even sure what the standard size for a guitar is. I'd like something adult sized I guess. I'd appreciate if it looked good as well. Are there any guitars that you would suggest for me? Also, do you know of any websites that would give me free guitar lessons?

well alot of companies-mainly fender, squire, adn ibanez- sell starter bundles but i guarantee you that they wont be less than 200 itll be around 250 so youll have to sacrifice alittle more $. the bundles they sell usually have the guitar, 10 watt amp, guitar strap, picks, guitar cable, tuner, headphones, and lessons usually on dvd. they are great ways to start out if i were you i would buy any starter bundles from those big three because it helps you start out with everything you need without hasseling your $. good luck. :)

Electric Guitar Problems? Answer Please?

I have a full size Electric guitar and a Marshall amp for it. I just bought this a week ago, and i have tried a couple things to try and learn but nothing works.
Info about my experiences:
1) Where to start? I have tried using guitar books from music stores before and those have never worked for me, and i can't afford lessons after purchasing the guitar and amp.
2) Which to learn? Tablature or Music notes? I've seen both used by people. Which should i use? Should i use tablature first then switch to music notes when i get better?
3)I have no prior knowledge of guitar playing besides the books i have tried that got me nowhere.
4) Free websites i can use? Good resources? Tips, and about how long you think it will take before i am no longer a beginner if i practice for 1 hr+ each day

Alright dude, this is pretty much what I did. My first few weeks of playing I worked on simple chords and riffs such as Iron Man and Smoke On The Water. There so simple its not even funny. Then I tried learning some scales like C minor and Major scales. Simple chords like G, A, D so on and so forth. Personally I hate practicing endless scales to while I learned those I tried going on YouTube and checking out peoples covers of some of my favorite songs. If it looked easy enough for me to play I gave it a try. I found out to play some of the songs by going on youtube and look for how to videos on the songs. You might get lucky and find someone who's a good teacher. SO YOUR GETTING A TEACHER WITHOUT PAYING FOR ONE.

Give Guitar Pro a try. Guitar Pro is a program that allows you to take a songs tab. and play it fast, slow, break it up into sections and more while you read the notes played and the song plays.

Given a year or so of practicing between and hour or more a day. You should start noticing yourself getting better.
